Being single becomes decidedly less appealing when it seems like you’re the only girl on earth without a boyfriend. Obviously you aren’t, and you know you’ll meet a cool guy eventually, but when you’re surrounded by people in blissfully happy relationships you really start to wonder where that guy is so you can just meet him already. Here are some thoughts that likely go through your mind when it feels like everyone has a boyfriend but you.
- Maybe there’s something wrong with me. Even if it’s just a passing thought that you don’t give much credit to, it’s still hard not to wonder if you’re the reason you’re still single. If everyone else can find someone, why can’t you?
- Am I scaring all the guys away? You’ll start going over the conversations you’ve had on recent dates trying to find something you said or did that drives guys away. Maybe you talk about yourself too much, or maybe you just haven’t found a guy who wants to talk about Star Wars as much as you do.
- Doesn’t anyone have a friend they can set me up with? All these boyfriends and not a single, single friend among them? Impossible. Time to ask around.
- Maybe I should give my ex a call. Sure, you broke up over a year ago and you haven’t talked since. But maybe you’ve both grown up and now you’re perfect for each other. Worth a shot, right?
- What’s worse? Saturday night home alone or out as a third wheel? Or fifth wheel, or seventh wheel. All you know is that you’re going to be the “single one” if you go out. Watching Friends on Netflix sounds a lot more appealing some nights.
- Who’s going to be my wing woman? They’d all rather be home with their boyfriends than out pretending to be interested in random guys in a bar. It might be time to learn how to flirt solo.
- Are all my friends going to forget about me? We all know some people go MIA when they’re in a relationship, and if you don’t want to tag along on their date nights, you might not see them much. All you have to do is gently remind them that you don’t want to hang out with their boyfriends as much as they do, and if they’re good friends, they’ll keep making quality time for you.
- What am I going to do with all this free time? Whatever you want, that’s what. You have a lot of girly TV to watch and trashy novels to read before you’ll even be close to wanting a boyfriend again.
- I’m really glad I don’t have to deal with all that relationship stuff. Sure, relationships are great, but they are also a hassle sometimes. Hearing all your friends complain about their boyfriend’s weird habits can only make you happy you don’t have to put up with any of that at the moment.
- At least I won’t be the next one going through a horrible breakup. Odds are, not all those relationships your friends are in are going to work out. Not that you’re rooting for them to fail or anything, it’s just reality. You’ll be the one a recently single friend calls for a girl’s night out in no time.
- It sure would be nice to have a built-in plus-one. It obviously feels like everyone has a boyfriend but you when it comes to going to a wedding or other event where a plus-one is pretty much a prerequisite. It’s cool to take a friend along, but it sure would be nice to take a romantic partner.
- Am I the only one that knows being single is awesome? Did everyone get together one day and decide being single was no longer in style? You must have missed that memo, because you’re still pretty comfortable with flirting shamelessly, having the bed to yourself, and never having to shave your legs.
